MASE Mentor Connection

MASE Mentor Connection is an opportunity for new and aspiring directors of special education to connect with MASE retirees or active directors for support that goes beyond the day-to-day technical aspects of the role of director. The purpose of a mentor/mentee connection is to help discover, foster, and build confidence in the leadership skills that lead to sustainability in the profession. Once a mentor is paired with a mentee, the frequency and method of connecting is decided on between the mentor and mentee.

Focus areas and topics are decided upon by the mentee and the mentor. Possible focus areas may include but are not limited to:

● Identifying and understanding leadership styles
● Helping new leaders discover their own potential, strengths, and capacity
● Building leadership soft skills
● Engaging and developing staff
● Working in an itinerant role
● Developing programs and systems
