The agenda will be shared with you prior to the meeting; one of the things we will be considering is a proposed bylaw change. At its October meeting, the MASE Board of Directors voted to forward the following bylaw changes to the voting members of MASE for your consideration at the Annual Meeting. These proposed changes are based on recommendations brought forth by the Organizational Planning Committee and Executive Committee. Here is a copy of the bylaws with proposed edits shown.
1. Designates the President of MASE as a standing member of the Business Partnership Committee.
Rationale: This change would address a discrepancy in our bylaws regarding Business Partnership Committee Chairs. The change would clarify that the Treasurer and Executive Director of MASE would co-chair the committee and the President would be a standing committee member.
2. Allows the Executive Committee the discretion to appoint members of MASE to serve as a representative of MASE to other organizations (without necessitating board approval).
Rationale: Given that the MASE board meets on a quarterly basis, making the appointments subject to board approval limits the organization's ability to be nimble in identifying and appointing such representatives throughout the year as needs arise without having to hold a special board meeting for approval of such appointment.
Eligible voting members will be asked to vote “yes” or “no” on these bylaw changes. If these changes are approved, they will go into effect immediately. It is important that you vote!
Please reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
