Mick Waldspurger Receives MASE Distinguished Service Award

The Minnesota Administrators for Special Education (MASE) has named Mick Waldspurger, Attorney and Shareholder of Squires, Waldspurger & Mace, P.A., the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Service Award. Waldspurger will be honored for his positive history and association with Minnesota public education, contribution to improving Minnesota’s public education, and reputation as a person who willingly “goes the extra mile” at a statewide recognition ceremony during the MASA/MASE Spring Conference held on March 15-16, 2024.
Waldspurger currently serves as President and CEO of Squires, Waldspurger & Mace, P.A. Specializing in education law, Waldspurger provides daily guidance to school district personnel and has a successful track record representing school districts in various legal proceedings. The firm currently represents nearly half the school districts in Minnesota, along with numerous charter schools and Wisconsin school districts. Waldspurger has provided more than 300 presentations to school districts and professional organizations, including MASE and the Minnesota Association of School Personnel Administrators & State Negotiators.

Waldspurger represented school districts, cities, and counties for 17 years before forming Rupp, Anderson, Squires & Waldspurger, P.A. (now Squires, Waldspurger & Mace, P.A.). After graduating from law school, he had the honor of serving as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Justice Donald W. Steinmetz of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Waldspurger received his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School and a bachelor's degree in Economics from Knox College.

MASE is a professional association organized to promote programs and services to improve the education of children with disabilities, to foster high quality programs of professional development, and to study problems relating to serving children with disabilities and improving the leadership of administrators for special education. MASE members are administrators for special education in public or private schools, cooperative regional, state and other education administrative units, college and university professors of special education teacher or administrator preparation programs, and administrators, coordinators or consultants for the Minnesota Department of Education.
