The Minnesota Special Education Leaders Foundation (MNSELF) is a non-profit, 501c3 tax exempt charitable corporation created for the purpose of raising funds to sponsor leadership training for current and inspiring directors of special education. Leadership in special education requires extensive and on-going knowledge to address the ever changing challenges presented by students with unique learning, health and social needs.  Special education leaders must stay current with the latest research-based instructional practices and technology to assure the best outcomes for students.  Equally important is that special education leaders remain resilient in the face of legal, ethical and fiscal challenges so their experience and training can inspire teachers and specialists to provide highly effective education and services students.

Through fundraising events MNSELF is able to sponsor and support training such as: workshops to encourage and help individuals determine if they wish to pursue a career as a special education administrator, training and mentorship for new special education administrators; training and support activities for veteran special education administrators, and training and support for others who provide leadership in educating Minnesota’s children and youth with disabilities.
