 MASE Distinguished Service Award

Nominations must be made by 4:30 p.m. Thursday February 1st .  Nomination form here. This form may be completed on line and mailed or faxed to the MASE office.

Background Information

The purpose of this award is to honor the recipient for his or her positive history/association with Minnesota public education on a statewide basis. The honoree may be an educator or person who contributes indirectly to the education community, such as a legislator, professional organization employee, member of the media, etc. This award recognizes the recipient for willingly "going the extra mile." The award is not necessarily presented on a yearly basis.

Selection Criteria

The recipient of the Distinguished Service Award will:

  1. Have a positive history/association with Minnesota public education. This history/association may be directly tied to the learning process such as practicing administrator, teacher, etc. OR indirectly such as legislator, professional organization employee, member of the media, etc.

  2. Have contributed/participated in activities that improve Minnesota's public education system on a statewide basis.

  3. Have a reputation as a person that willingly goes the extra mile.

Selection Procedure

  1. Nominees may be self-nominated or nominated by another member of MASE for this award using the MASE form.

  2. A committee of MASE past presidents will serve as the selection committee.

The Award

  1. The award plaque will be made at the MASE/MASA Spring Conference.

  2. A news release will be distributed to the recipient's local media.

 

 MASE Special Education
Administrator of the Year Award

Background Information

The MASE Board of Directors established this award for members in the spring of 1991, and the first awards were presented at the 1992 Spring Conference. The purpose of the award is to honor one or more administrators from throughout Minnesota who:

  1. is a practicing administrator and a member of MASE.

  2. has a minimum of 5 years administrative experience.

  3. demonstrates a concern for students/families with disabilities.

  4. demonstrates active involvement in professional and community affairs.
     

Selection Procedure

  1. Nominees may be self-nominated or nominated by another member of MASE.

  2. Nominations must be made on the official MASE form available through the MASE office.

  3. The Nominating Committee will serve as the selection committee
     

The Award

  1. The award plaque will be made at the MASE/MASA Spring Conference.

  2. A news release will be distributed to the recipient's local media.

MASE Legacy Award

Background Information

An important focus of the work of Minnesota Administrators for Special Education (MASE) is the support of emerging educational leaders. The MASE Legacy Award recognizes a MASE member for his or her commitment to encouraging, developing, and monitoring leaders who reflect MASE's mission.

Nomination Procedure

Nominations will be made through a process determined by the MASE Nominating Committee.

  1. Candidates may be self-nominated or nominated by another voting member of MASE.

  2. Nominations must be made in writing by completing the nomination materials.

  3. Nomination materials must be received by the nomination deadline to be considered.

  4. Nomination materials can be accessed from the MASE web site or by contacting the MASE office.

Selection Procedure

  1. The MASE Nominating Committee will select the recipient.
  2. Selection will be based upon a review of candidate biographical information provided in the nomination materials.
  3. The nomination committee members will select recipients through the use of an individually administered rating scale or secret vote.
  4. The candidate with the highest overall score will be selected for the award.

Selection Criteria

  1. Recipient must be a current active MASE member.

  2. recipient shall have contributed to the professional growth and development of others.

  3. recipient shall have a service history as a long-standing, contributing MASE member.

  4. Recipient shall have demonstrated commitment through:

    1. training

    2. mentoring

    3. personal support

    4. modeling

    5. an impact that is considerable and measurable over time

    6. contribution at the local, regional, and state levels

The Award

  1. The award is presented annually at the MASE Fall Leadership Conference.

  2. The award consists of a plaque and complimentary registration and lodging at the conference.
